Tibetan butter tea Tibetan butter tea, Po Cha, is the most typical Tibetan drink. In Tibet many people drink it all day long because it heats them up. The butter also helps prevent chapped lips.
According to the Tibetan custom, butter tea is drunk in separate sips, and after each sip the host refills the bowl to the brim. Thus, the guest never drains his bowl; rather, it is constantly topped up. If the visitor does not wish to drink, the best thing to do is leave the tea untouched until the time comes to leave and then drain the bowl. In this way etiquette is observed and the host will not be offended.
The process of making butter tea takes a long time and is pretty complicated. People use a special black tea that comes from an area called Pemagul in Tibet. The tea comes in bricks of different shapes, and we crumble off some tea and boil it for many hours. We save the liquid from the boiling and then whenever we want to make tea, we add some of that liquid, called chaku, to our boiling water.
If you wanna have a prelude of the taste, just get any plain black tea, and add in salt, butter and milk in it.

Tibetan Language
Tibetan language belongs to the small Tibetan-Burmese group of languages and has no similarity at all to Mandarin or Hindi. Tibetan script was developed in the seventy century and has thirty consonants and five vowels which are placed either beside, above or below other letters when written down. There are obvious inaccuracies when trying to render this into the Roman alphabet and the situation is further complicated by the many dialects across the region; the Lhasa dialect is used in the vocabulary below. Word order is back-to-front relative to English, and verbs are placed at the ends of sentences-“this noodle soup is delicious” becomes “tukpa dee shimbo do”, literally “noodle soup this delicious is”. The only sound you are likely to have trouble with is ng at the beginning of words-it is pronounced as in sang.
