ODAC

SYNERGY – NYP Adventure Race is an annual sporting event organised by Nanyang Polytechnic. The objective of the race is to expose and engage our students in challenging endurance sports and to foster a more vibrant sporting culture among NYP students.

This year, we would like to invite your school’s ODAC/Adventure club students to participate in SYNERGY 2009 – NYP Adventure Race, which will be held on Saturday, 17th January 2009. Through this event, we hope to foster closer ties among tertiary ODAC/Adventure Clubs. We also hope that through such event, invited schools will get an opportunity to learn and share with each another experiences in organising adventure races and expeditions from their counterparts.

Race route

Participants of SYNERGY 2009 – NYP Adventure Race will be running, cycling, kayaking, climbing and abseiling along certain selected routes in Singapore. The race route will cover a distance of approximately 22km.

Participation format

Registration is open to all invited polytechnics, JCs and ITEs only. Each JC is allowed to send a maximum of two (2) teams. Each team must consist of 2 members. The combination of team members must be either a male & female or female & female. No 2 male combinations are allowed. All invited tertiary will be racing in the invitational category with no sub-categories. Top 3 prizes will be awarded to teams who finish the race in the shortest time without any time penalty.

Staff to note that participants from invitational categories need not attend the race clinic. However, please ensure that your student racers are familiar with abseil technique with and without glove.

Registration fee and payment

Registration fee is $20 per team. The race registration fee includes an event t-shirt and goodie bags for all participants. Cash payment is to be made on the race briefing day itself at the registration counter. Schools are to ensure that indemnity forms are duly signed before submitting the forms to NYP.

In the event of withdrawal, the teacher in-charge is required to make substitution at least 2 days before the event.
